In addition to a series of online lectures from academics, you’ll gain invaluable insight from guest speakers and develop communication skills in interactive seminars and lively group discussions. We also encourage practical learning, and you will have the opportunity to take part in clinical days where you will experience innovative procedures first-hand. We also incorporate bespoke online learning tools such as our own app for simulation-based assessments.

You will be expected to complete further hours of independent study. You’ll take an active role in your own learning by reading designated material, producing written assignments and completing projects.

To help you along your journey, you’ll also be assigned a Student Adviser, who will guide and support you in both academic and pastoral matters throughout your course.

You will also be supported by your programme administrator who is responsible for the day-to-day organisation and management of the programme and is on-hand to facilitate a positive learning environment and support your engagement during your studies. The Blizard Institute's team of dedicated education administrators recently received an Education Excellence Award for their work.

Dr Anna Maria Fenech Magrin Clinical Senior Lecturer in Aesthetic Medicine MD, MSc Public Health (Melit), MSc Aesthetic Medicine (UK) Dr Anna Maria Fenech Magrin is the Deputy Course Coordinator for the Aesthetic Medicine programmes t Queen Mary. She is also a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Aesthetic Medicine. Her special interests are in regenerative medicine and the application of cadaveric anatomy to aesthetic medicine.
Mr Ioannis Goutos Director of Academic Plastic Surgery Programmes BSc(Hons), MBBS(Hons), FRCSEd(Plast) MSc Burn Care Mr Ioannis Goutos is a Plastic Surgeon and the director of the academic plastic surgery (Aesthetic Medicine) programmes at Queen Mary. He undertook his training in the UK and completed fellowship programmes in the Indian subcontinent, South America, and the Orient. He currently works at the London Scar Clinic as well as Skin 55, Harley Street and his main interests in aesthetic medicine include laser treatments, body contouring as well as scar management.
Dr Haidar Hassan Clinical Senior Lecturer / Student Experience Lead DDS, MFDS RCPS(Glasg), FFGDP(UK), Dip ImpDent RCS(Eng), MSc Oral Imp, MSc Aesth Med, PhD, FDSRCS(Eng) Dr Hassan is a substantive clinical senior lecturer on the Aesthetic Medicine programme. He is joint module lead for Module 5 – Medicolegal Practice and Patient Psychology, and the Lead for Student Experience. He is a member of the British Council of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM) and Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP). Furthermore, he was awarded the 1st British Council of Aesthetic Medicine Research Award in 2019 for his clinical paper on “Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin (i-PRF) in Aesthetic Medicine – a prospective consecutive cases audit of outcome”.
Dr Sean Fitzpatrick Honorary Lecturer MD MCh BaO MRCPI MSc Dr Sean A Fitzpatrick is a dedicated aesthetic medical injector focusing on bespoke anti-wrinkle dermal filler treatments among others. He has performed thousands of aesthetic treatments throughout his career and completed his masters degree in Aesthetic Medicine with distinction from Queen Mary in 2019, where he is now an honorary lecturer. He is also an associate member of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine and provides training in aesthetic medical injectable as well as doctor mentoring.

Dr Sebastian Cotofana

Dr Sebastian Cotofana is an associate professor of anatomy in the Department of Clinical Anatomy at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, Rochester, Minnesota. He additionally is an honorary professor of Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow, Russia and a visiting professor at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. His research interest is in translational and clinical anatomical research with special focus on age-related changes of the human face and medical education. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and online communications.

Dr Bashar Shatta Clinical Senior Lecturer in Aesthetic Medicine; Lead for Recruitment and Admissions MD, MRCS (Eng), MSc (Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, QMUL), MRCGP Dr Shatta is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Module Lead for the Aesthetic Medicine programmes at Queen Mary. He has a leading role in curriculumdevelopment, student supervision and examination. He is a qualified general practitioner, skin surgeon and aesthetic doctor with wide experience in these fields. Dr Shatta is fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). He is also a member ofThe Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP).
