Trion Fire Department Call Report For May

Arrest Report – Tuesday – June 11, 2024 - AM 1180 Radio (2)

The Trion Fire Department released their call report for the month of May. There were 12 residential fire alarms; 5 commercial fire alarms; 5 illegal burns; 12 medical assists and firefighters worked 7 motor vehicle accidents. They also responded to 6 downed trees or power line calls; 2 natural gas leaks and participated in 2 search and rescues.

Rome Man Arrested After Chasing People With Dead Snake

Arrest Report – Tuesday – June 11, 2024 - AM 1180 Radio (4)

Rome Police arrested an intoxicated man on Broad Street on Saturday after they say he was chasing people with a dead snake. Eyewitnesses say that Joshua Michael Elijah Smith had a dead snake and was attempting to hit people in the face with it. Smith was reportedly yelling vulgarities and profanity at people as he attempted to hit them with the snake. Smith admitted to police that he had drank six beers before the snake incident. He is charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Georgia Department Of Public Health Closing COVID Testing Sites

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is closing all remaining COVID-19 community testing sites. The last day to be tested for COVID-19 at a community testing site will be June 30, 2024. COVID-19 testing kiosks are now located throughout the state. In most locations, these kiosks offer access to COVID-19 tests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Georgia Gas Prices Decrease Over The Past Week

Georgia gas prices decreased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgians are paying an average price of $3.29per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was7 cents less than a week ago, 14 cents less than a month ago, and 2 cents more than this time last year. It costs drivers an average price of$49.35to fill a15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying approximately$2.00lessto fill up at the pump compared to a month ago.

Advance Voting Continues In Primary Runoff Election

Advance voting got underway on Monday in the 2024 Primary Runoff Election. Chattooga County voters will be choosing between Jeremy “Big Mac” McElhaney and Savanna McGill for coroner to replace retiring Democrat Earl Rainwater. No Democrats qualified for any local positions, so the winner of the runoff election will be Chattooga County’s next coroner. The Chattooga County Registrars Office says 109 Absentee by Mail ballots were issued for the runoff election. The deadline to request an absentee ballot was last Friday, but early voting continues this week. All early voting for the Primary Runoff Election takes place at the Chattooga County Registrars Office. There is NO Saturday voting for the runoff election. Voting hours are from 8:30 AM until 5 PM.
