Sep 26, 2009 · The STX vs. plain vs. basketweave is just a finish thing. My holsters that are all three fninshes seem to be of the same quality and durability.
I was going to buy a Safariland 6305 Holster and than I saw where several had modified the shroud. I saw where I can buy the shroud smaller version separate. I also found a 6365 duty holster. In STX Tactical. I am wondering if I buy that holster and the 6304-10 shroud with I have the same quality holster. On a slightly different matter does anyone own a 6360 or 6365 in the better holster quality compared to STX Tactical Material. Not LE so really don't want Basketweave or Plain. Just really

Understanding Safariland Holster Codes Part 2 We explained the first four numbers in the code, which are the holster model codes. But a current leap in technology has added another possibility that can follow those numbers “DO” was the first and stood for Doctor Optic as in the 6354DO that so many are familiar with. This was probably the first optic sight holster, and it was devised to fulfill specific contracts. As the slide-mounted optic came into vogue, this holster was modified by many to fit their optic holster needs. Since that time, a new type of optic box was invented to cover a much wider variety of optics. The new designation is RDS (Red Dot Sight), and it can be found on an ever-expanding list of holster choices. You will see this in the 6390RDS, 6360RDS, 6377RDS, 6384RDS, and so on. There are now also the new 7TS injection-molded optic sight holsters, and they follow the same pattern 7390RDS. The second set of numbers in the Holster Code is the gun and light combination. Example: 7360-XXXX-411 as denoted by the Xs. This code can have as few as two numbers and as many as six. It signifies the gun and gun/light and laser combination. We’ll start with the most common numbers, and I’ll provide a list for reference. Be advised; this list is continually growing. The baseline code for a Glock 17/22 is -83- , now updated to -835- with the changes in the Glock Gen 5 models. Safariland Model 6395RDS ALS Low-Ride Level I Retention Duty Holster. ALS (Automatic Locking Systems) secures weapon once holstered; simple straight up draw once release is deactivated For use with red dot optic-equipped weapons SafariLaminate thermal-molded construction protects handgun and sights. The 6395RDS holster is specifically designed for firearms with red dot sights mounted to them. This open-top holster features the Automatic Locking System (ALS), an internal locking device that retains the weapon in all directions with no straps or snaps to manipulate. Once the weapon is holstered, it locks into place. The holster is completely operable with the thumb and once the ALS is deactivated a simple straight-up draw is used. Features a mid-ride belt loop that rides close to the body, and has a suede lining to protect the gun's sights and finish.
