Your Guide to Egg Free Disney World (2024)

Updated December 18th, 2023

Disney is one of the Best Theme Park locations for Egg Free options! Unlike other locations that don’t have egg free bread, or having you strictly ordering off the vegan menu, Disney World does things differently. They have egg free goodies, like desserts and breads, and allergy menus that aren’t just the plant based option!

You’ll find a lot of Egg Free options from desserts and breads to treats and snacks (plus the infamous Allergy Awareness) at Disney. All the things we need to have a safe and fun food allergy vacation.

Let’s look at some of the options below, and clear up the most common questions for an Egg Free Disney Vacation.

Are Mickey Pretzels Egg Free?

Yes! Mickey Pretzels do not have Egg currently. You can ask to see ingredients in person before ordering to confirm!

***As Always, please speak to a qualified restaurant employee when ordering food. In order to see the most accurate ingredients and risk assessment, you will need to confirm allergy safety in real-time. Egg Free is actually Egg Friendly at Disney World

One of the things talked about in the Disney World Food Allergy FAQ, is that Disney has strict disclaimers in place.

Because of these strict disclaimers, Disney labels everything ‘Friendly’ and they are not always consistent.

So that means that we still need to do the whole allergy song and dance, ask about procedures, ask about brands, and ask how items are made. Disney does not include ‘may contain’ statements in their allergy menus, and they’ve been known to make mistakes with labeling.

I would highly recommend you talk to Disney Staff at every location and check ingredients to make sure there is no egg, or hidden egg, in the product. Ask about cross contact, shared fryers, and how it’s made. Disney Staff is great to talk to, and you’ll find some hidden menu items or unique modifications when you ask in person.

You should bring snacks just in case, and there’s some other things to consider packing for a safe allergy trip.

Restaurants to eat Egg Free at Disney World

While there are a lot of restaurants to choose from (and many that are really good for you!) there are some I would recommend over others and then ones I’d skip. For the current list of ones to skip, check the Restaurant Skip List.

I did not list any third party restaurants (they are officially called ‘Operating Participants‘) here, only those owned by Disney. While many third party locations have great allergy procedures in place, they vary by location and some are no better than your restaurant’s back home.

My top three favorite Table Service (Sit Down, Reservation Recommended) locations for lots of Egg Free options (including a dessert and bread) would be:

  • Coral Reef at EPCOT
  • Tony’s Town Square at Magic Kingdom
  • 50’s Prime Time at Hollywood Studios

These locations are all Table Service locations, and Table Service locations do typically require a Reservation and have a higher price point. I like Table Service because you are able to talk to a Chef, and several locations in each of the parks have Scratch Kitchens too! (Like Le Cellier in EPCOT and most of the Table Service Locations at the Resorts) You can find great egg free options at Quick Serve Locations too!

For Egg Free Quick Serve (Fast Food Style, no Reservation Required, Mobile Ordering Optional), I recommend:

  • Connections Cafe at EPCOT (OR for lunch only, Sunshine Seasons. Get the Oreo Mousse dessert!!)
  • Peco Bills at Magic Kingdom
  • Pizzafari at Animal Kingdom
  • Docking Bay 7 at Hollywood Studios

There are a lot more options than that, and many can find something to share with you. Please don’t think you can *only* go to those locations listed above- those are just my favorites after reviewing and checking procedures on the restaurants at Disney World. You can click around on Disney’s Site, as many of the options have allergy menus (but not all!)

Plant Based Options- are they Egg Free?

Disney came out with a Plant Based menu. The plant based menu is supposed to be made without Dairy (Milk), Egg, Meat, and Honey. So one would assume that all items marked with a plant based symbol would be Egg-Free.

But, there have been some accidents with Plant Based options, and it’s still in your best interest to check ingredients to confirm if it is made without eggs. 90% of the time it is going to be Egg Free, but the other times, like when accidents when labeling occur, its good to double check!

Also note that Plant Based doesn’t mean Free From, so these items could still be produced in a shared oven or facility with egg (or made without allergy procedures and have significant cross contact!) Here’s a recent example of an items being labeled plant based and then having allergens in it.

Look for the Plant Symbol when ordering to have a place to start, then ask to see Allergy Ingredient Lists to confirm for your needs. In the picture below, you can see the plant symbol on the title of the Spring Fling Cupcake

Mobile Order with Egg Allergy

In 2020, Disney World introduced Mobile Order, and shortly after brought Allergy Mobile Order to the table.
It’s a nifty addition, BUT, like all new technology, it still has some extra steps for many with an Egg Allergy.

You can mobile order safely by selecting what you’d like in the ‘Egg Friendly’ Section, and then asking to speak to ‘Someone’ (generally a Coordinator) before placing your order! Then when your order is ready, just double confirm that it’s for your allergy.

I’m not saying ‘don’t’ Mobile Order, but I am saying that it’s a helpful tool once you understand the limitations (that it’s ‘Friendly’ and still requires some double checking on your part) and make the best decision for you and your family.

See this post for a full guide for Mobile ordering with Allergies, including images, examples and more things to look out for.

Character Meals with an Egg Allergy

You can still eat at Character Meals with an Egg Allergy.

While many of the below options are Buffet Style, You can still eat safely at a buffet at Disney World. I like to ask for the Allergy Menu, and speak to a Chef to confirm items, then get the items from the back to avoid Cross Contact. You can see specifics for Disney Buffets with Allergies here including photos and what to say to the Chef.

Each of the Restaurants has an allergy menu (and you can see all the egg free reviews and allergy menus here), and then you talk to a Chef or Manager about the best options for you. I do recommend getting all items prepared by the Chef to avoid cross contact.

But not all Character Meals are worth it, and I don’t recommend a few of them for Egg Allergies. Tusker House lunch and dinner was hard to navigate, and Cape May Cafe isn’t at the top of the list either.

Popular Egg Free Snacks at Disney World

There are a lot of snacks at Disney World, and some could argue that the main point of a Disney vacation is the ride, entertainment and fun eats!

At Disney World, these are the most popular Egg Free Snacks.

  • Dole Whips (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT Festivals)
  • Mickey Waffles (Resorts and in Park Table Service )
  • Mickey Premium Bars (All Parks)
  • Popcorn (All Parks)
  • Themed Animal Crackers (All Shops in Parks)

There are some fun speciality items, like Dairy and Egg free Ice Cream (Beaches and Cream Restaurant), and Beignets (Port Orleans Resort). You can find more unique and secret menu items in the Snack Guide below!

You’ll want to plan on skipping the confectionary items, as those have a lot of cross contact. See what I mean by Cross Contact in the Bakery items here.
